Maternal influenza vaccination elicits transplacental transfer of hemagglutinin stem-specific IgG

چکیده
Hemagglutinin (HA) glycoprotein is the dominant antigen of current influenza vaccines and antigenic drift requires a seasonal vaccine. The stem region HA conserved therefore promising target for universal Understanding specific response crucial in vaccine development. We hypothesize that maternal vaccination with would result boost antibodies higher concentrations neonatal cord blood. Two parallel prospective cohorts pregnant women were recruited mid-trimester before (n=15) 3rd trimester after (n=18). Maternal plasma assessed 15 participants pre post 2019 18 prenatally vaccinated paired blood samples. Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) detected IgG subclass titers antigens recombinant antigen. used Wilcoxon signed rank test to assess antibody titer differences between umbilical plasma. boosted (log2 threshold 14.5, (95% CI 13.8-15.2) versus (v) 16.0 15.2-16.8) post-vaccine, P = 0.004) more robustly than all (18.6 v 19.4 0.008). post-vaccine IgG1 (9.0 7.7, 0.001) IgG3 (8.2 7.1, subclasses compared other subclasses. Cost effectiveness of influenza vaccination for specific populations in Iran
Introduction: Influenza viruses are the major respiratory pathogens worldwide and high-risk groups such as healthcare workers may develop severe forms of the disease. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of influenza vaccination for 4 target groups including pregnant women, elderly people (aged over 65 years), healthcare workers and school-age children in Iran. Metho...
متن کاملH3N2 Influenza Infection Elicits More Cross-Reactive and Less Clonally Expanded Anti-Hemagglutinin Antibodies Than Influenza Vaccination
BACKGROUND During the recent H1N1 influenza pandemic, excess morbidity and mortality was seen in young but not older adults suggesting that prior infection with influenza strains may have protected older subjects. In contrast, a history of recent seasonal trivalent vaccine in younger adults was not associated with protection. METHODS AND FINDINGS To study hemagglutinin (HA) antibody responses...
متن کاملInfluenza hemagglutinin stem-fragment immunogen elicits broadly neutralizing antibodies and confers heterologous protection.
Influenza hemagglutinin (HA) is the primary target of the humoral response during infection/vaccination. Current influenza vaccines typically fail to elicit/boost broadly neutralizing antibodies (bnAbs), thereby limiting their efficacy. Although several bnAbs bind to the conserved stem domain of HA, focusing the immune response to this conserved stem in the presence of the immunodominant, varia...
متن کاملTransplacental transfer of genotoxins and transplacental carcinogenesis.
A number of chemical compounds induce cancer in the offspring of animals treated with these compounds. The fetus is sensitive to the toxic and teratogenic effects of chemicals in the early embryonic stages, whereas it is sensitive to carcinogenic effects during late fetal stages. Carcinogens may be direct acting or may require metabolic oxidation such as those in tobacco smoke. Activation can o...
متن کاملA virus-like particle that elicits cross-reactive antibodies to the conserved stem of influenza virus hemagglutinin.
The discovery of broadly neutralizing antibodies that recognize highly conserved epitopes in the membrane-proximal region of influenza virus hemagglutinin (HA) has revitalized efforts to develop a universal influenza virus vaccine. This effort will likely require novel immunogens that contain these epitopes but lack the variable and immunodominant epitopes located in the globular head of HA. As...
